Q. The tech data link says "Order CD-Rom." How do I order the CD?
A. To order a copy of an open solicitation and/or a Technical Data Package (TDP) on CD-ROM, submit
your request via E-Mail to: Please submit the following information with your request: Your Company Name ** Please note that only requests for bidsets will be answered via the above mail box. Other comments or suggestions regarding the Army Contracting Command-Warren (ACC-WRN) Home Page should be sent to USARMY Detroit Arsenal ACC Mailbox WRN Web Page Questions about the contents or requirements of a specific solicitation or TDP should be sent to the buyer's E-Mail address listed on the solicitation page. Q. What if I need to print the file to circulate within my organization? A. If you have downloaded the file from our link you could distribute the information in your organization electronically without printing. If your business process dictates hard copy the Acrobat Reader supports printing to any default printer connected. In order to successfully print the solicitation and attachment documents you must have downloaded the file fully. After downloading the information you must open the Acrobat Reader in a separate instance. Once the reader is open, open the downloaded solicitation or attachment information. Use the Print Setup and Print commands within the Acrobat Reader to output to any printer supported by your operating system. You will not have success attempting to print the information with the Acrobat Reader plug-in or "x" component launched in your browser window. Q. I sent a mail to the vendor notification system but instead of registering me to get solicitations it came back and said "unrecognized command: This." A. This usually happens if you are using Outlook Express. Express is set by default to send messages in HTML (web page) format. The HTML code (which you cannot see) is embedded in the mail and confuses the mailer. The solution is to change the format of your mail to "plain text." Q. We got a message when we were downloading a solicitation that AOL could not launch helper application C:\AOL30A\download\Bidview3.exe to present the fileC:\windows\temp\00006.pdf. Can you please shed some light on this message? A. Use of the native AOL browser appears not to yield satisfactory results with the Acrobat Reader plug-in. The error message above does indicate that the file was successfully downloaded to C:\windows\temp as 00006.pdf (perhaps the product of multiple attempts to acquire the information.) As such, the Adobe Acrobat reader could be used to "open" the downloaded file offline for reading and printing purposes. AOL does provide provisions for using other than proprietary browsers. AOL user help files and technical support can provide information regarding browser substitution. Q. The information on the Current Open Solicitations page is the same every time I enter it. Aren't you updating? A. Internet browsers store copies of information downloaded in their cache. The theory is that where a local copy is available your download time will be decreased. You should press the "reload" or "refresh" buttons on your browser tool bar to be assured that you are viewing the most current information available at all sites where the information posted is dynamic. This will force the browser to reload and overwrite (only matching content) new information to the local cache. Q. What is a zipped file? A. To minimize the time necessary to download some of the larger files we'll post we will use compression software to reduce their file volume. This does not result in loss of data as "repeating data" within the file is marked rather than replicated. The result will be the extraction of the compressed data to its original size and format. Where the files are extremely voluminous we'll post a warning which approximates the disk space that will be required to successfully extract the data. You will need a program to unzip the files such as WinZip which is available at http://www.winzip.com. Q. Is there a way for me to fill the solicitation entry areas online? A. Sort of... to see how to submit an electronic proposal click here. Q. How can I view Army Contracting Command - Warren tech data with a Mac computer?
